Empowering the girl child in Nigeria took center stage as the Global Initiative for Women in Leadership (GIFWIL) led by our founder Lady Dr. Sarah Umahi joined passionate change-makers, advocates, and leaders at the 4th Girls Summit in Umuahia, Abia State. Organized by the Protect the Precious Foundation, the event was a vibrant celebration of hope, leadership, and transformation.
The summit featured inspiring figures such as the wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti (represented by Mrs. Adaeze Emetu, wife of the Deputy Governor), the co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, Mrs. Aisha Yesufu, and actress and women’s rights advocate, Mrs. Hilda Dokubo. Together, they championed Girl Child Empowerment in Nigeria, encouraging hundreds of girls to dream boldly, overcome limitations, and embrace healing through self-belief and education, a powerful reminder of the growing movement for Girl Child Empowerment in Nigeria.

Representing GIFWIL was the Founder and Chairperson, Lady Dr. Sarah C. Umahi, who delivered a deeply moving and intellectually rich address titled:
“Trauma and Mental Health Which Affects the Girl Child — The Girl Child, Self-Confidence, and Adverse Childhood Experiences: Healing Solutions through Awareness, Support, and Energy Therapy.”
Her message captured the spirit of the event which is a call to heal, empower, and restore confidence to the next generation of young women.
Empowering the Girl Child: Healing Beyond Words
In her presentation, Dr. Umahi shed light on the hidden emotional and psychological struggles many girls face due to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)—traumatic events such as abuse, neglect, or violence that silently erode confidence and self-worth. She explained that empowering the girl child begins with recognizing that “the girl child represents both the future and the fragile foundation of society,” yet cultural expectations, discrimination, and emotional neglect often silence her voice. Her speech did not state the problem alone—it charted a path toward healing. Dr. Umahi emphasized that empowering the girl child requires integrated solutions that combine psychological support, community mentorship, and energy therapy to address trauma from the inside out.

Some of the transformative practices she highlighted included:
- METACS (Meridian Tapping and Chakra Stimulation) — to release fear, shame, and guilt while restoring confidence.
- CCIT (Cosmic Colour Invocation Technique) — which uses solar and golden light energies to renew courage and personal power.
- Whole Body Flushing and Heart Coherence Therapy — to cleanse emotional pain and foster self-love, compassion, and forgiveness.
She also advocated for safe spaces, trauma-informed education, and support circles where girls can rediscover their voices and learn that their past does not define their potential.
Dr. Umahi concluded powerfully:
“Healing the girl child is not merely recovery — it is transformation. When a girl heals, she reclaims her voice, her creativity, and her destiny. She becomes a light for others to follow.”
GIWL’s Continued Commitment
Beyond participation, GIFWIL pledged and redeemed a financial donation of ₦100,000 to the Protect the Precious Foundation to support the summit’s cause; a gesture that reaffirmed the organization’s hands-on commitment to initiatives that uplift girls and women.
Dr. Umahi’s presence, alongside other dignitaries and advocates, underscored GIWL’s growing influence as a catalyst for female empowerment and emotional healing in Nigeria and beyond.

A Shared Vision for the Future
The 4th Girls Summit was more than an event — it was a movement. It reminded everyone present that the wellbeing of the girl child mirrors the strength of a nation.
Through collaborations like this, GIFWIL continues to champion the message that healing, empowerment, and leadership begin with awareness and compassion.
When girls heal, they rise; and when they rise, communities thrive.
